Stone Court House follows the extraordinary journey of Saban Demirbasa, a British inventor and entrepreneur whose life moved from pioneering technology to the painstaking restoration of a 700-year-old courthouse in Maidstone, Kent.
Between 2001 and 2016, Saban developed and patented i-Migo, an innovative Bluetooth tracking device designed to help people protect the things they could lose. In 2010, he presented the technology to Apple – eleven years before the release of the AirTag.
The invention was years ahead of its time. But turning an idea into a successful global product brought unexpected challenges, difficult decisions and painful setbacks. As the technology industry moved forward, Saban was forced to confront what had been lost – not only professionally, but personally.
Then came Stone Court House.
Together with his wife, Belinda, Saban took on the restoration of one of Kent’s most remarkable historic buildings. With no specialist conservation experience, limited resources and a determined team of young workers, he began the seemingly impossible task of bringing the neglected courthouse back to life.
The restoration became more than a building project. Behind its ancient walls, Saban began to rediscover his voice, his family and a sense of identity that had been buried beneath years of ambition, disappointment and responsibility.
Stone Court House is a story about refusing to give up – on an idea, a building, a family or yourself.
